We’ve teamed up with the British Skin Foundation again this year to help everyone stay safe in the sun, with free SPF 50 sun cream available across LDO all summer.
With Wembley set to host huge concerts, sporting events (hello FA Cup Final and Oasis fans), and plenty of sunshine already this year, we’ve made it easy to stay protected. Just look out for our free sun lotion dispensers around the centre, so you don’t have to worry if you forgot to pack yours.
Here’s something you might not know: depending on your skin type, just 10 minutes in high UV can cause sunburn. And yes, UV rays can still reach you through clouds, which is why the British Skin Foundation recommends using sunscreen anytime you’re outside during summer.
Whether you’re heading here for a day of shopping or passing though Wembley Park, here are some simple sun safety tips from the British Skin Foundation to keep you covered:
- Use a sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 and at least 4 stars for UVA protection
- Wear sunglasses, ideally with wrap-around lenses or wide arms, which carry CE and British Standard marks
- Generously apply sunscreen (5 teaspoons to cover the whole body) 15 to 20 minutes before going outside and reapply at least every 2 hours
- Protect your lips by using a SPF 30+ lip balm
- Find some shade whenever possible, but especially in the middle of the day, between 11am and 3pm, when the sun is at its strongest
